A P5 outdoor SMD screen has its LEDs 5 mm apart. That spacing decides how close people can stand, how big the screen must be for a given resolution, and what it costs. P5 is a common middle ground between sharpness and cost outdoors.

Where a P5 outdoor screen works best
- building façades seen from the road
- plaza and mall exteriors
- sports grounds
- roadside signs at slow-traffic junctions

Is P5 the right pitch for you?
- If most viewers will be closer than about 5 m, a finer pitch such as P4 outdoor looks smoother.
- If nobody comes closer than about 6 m, P6 outdoor gives the same picture from there and costs less per square metre.
- Measure the distance from the screen to the closest viewer, and the width of wall you have. Our pixel pitch guide explains the rule.

About 5 m is the closest comfortable distance; from 10–15 m the picture looks completely smooth.
How big is a full-HD P5 screen?
To show 1920×1080 pixels natively, a P5 screen is about 9.6 m wide and 5.4 m high. Smaller screens still play HD video; the controller scales it.
Can P5 be used indoors?
It can, but outdoor modules are much brighter than needed indoors and cost more; for an indoor wall an indoor model of a similar pitch is better value.
